About Newcastle College
Newcastle College is a Further Education and Higher Education college in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. The college has a complex history, being an amalgamation of various colleges and training providers. Newcastle College is positioned at the heart of the region's business community to ensure that the future generation of talent receives training that is up to date with the requirements of employers.
Among them: The Queen's Award for Further and Higher Education: Newcastle College has been awarded the prestigious Queen’s Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education. Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) Silver: Newcastle College has been awarded a TEF Silver rating in the government’s new teaching excellence framework for higher education.
When you enrol on a course at college you will automatically become a member of the National Union of Students (NUS) if you are aged 16 or over. Newcastle College Students' Union is run by students to represent the student population of the College. They are here to support you across a range of initiatives whether it's a college wide event, fundraising, clubs or campaign on issues that you feel are important.
International Foundation Programme (IFP)
It is an Access to Higher Education Diploma for students (aged 18 and above) who would like to go on to study at a university or college. IFP offers a range of pathways each designed so students can progress to a degree in their subject area of choice. It is vital you research your desired degree course and preferred institution fully, so you are sure the IFP pathway and modules meet the Entry Requirements of the degree you want to study. Provided pathways: Business Technology pathway, Science and Engineering pathway, and Humanities pathways.
Designed for those who want to progress to study at degree level, this is an advanced Level 3 course that carries UCAS points and will therefore allow you to progress to higher education at Newcastle College or go onto university.
Business and Management
The college provides first-rate career-focused business and management courses, designed in conjunction with industry, ensuring that you benefit from a practical, approach to study. Under-graduate and post-graduate degrees equip students with the core knowledge and skills needed to gain entry to leading educational institutions or to progress further in their chosen career.
Education and Teacher Training
School of Education has an excellent reputation for teacher training and professional development programmes. It is one of only ten Centres for Excellence in Teacher Training in the UK.
Engineering and Aerospace
The college offers a wide range of engineering courses ranging from mechanical to electrical and the newly developed subsea engineering. The Energy Academy provides higher-level skills training in the energy industries, including those in the rapidly developing renewable energies sector.
Science courses include biotechnology to develop your knowledge and understanding of the bioscience industry and analytical chemistry to develop your knowledge and understanding of the chemical industry.
