About Leeds Beckett University
Leeds Beckett University (LBU, formerly Leeds Metropolitan University and Leeds Polytechnic) is a public university in Leeds, West Yorkshire, with campuses in the city centre and Headingley. The university’s origins can be traced to 1824, with the foundation of the Leeds Mechanics Institute. Since then, the university has grown into one of the largest and most popular universities in the UK with more than 24,000 students studying across our 2 campuses in Leeds. International Foundation Studies
The university offers foundation, undergraduate, postgraduate, research and distance learning programmes, with start dates in September and January. If English is not your first language, this course will give you the skills to study any undergraduate degree. You will gain an understanding of British culture and universities, improving your English language, academic research and study skills. You will have the option to take a module on the subject you are interested in studying as your undergraduate degree. Subjects covered are business and management, law and social sciences, architecture and art and design. You will develop the following areas: English language, academic skills, group work, cultural awareness, maths and a subject module from your undergraduate degree choice.
The university accommodation office is ranked 5th in the UK11 halls of residence providing more than 4,250 bedrooms.
