Reasons to choose Bangor

A friendly, student-centred place to study

Bangor’s size and friendly nature mean it is easy to get to know people and our students tend to settle-in easily. Most of the buildings and student residences are a short walk from the city centre, where you will find a variety of national chain stores and smaller local businesses. Bangor has been recognised as one of the best places in the UK to be a student by various student surveys.

The Students’ Union

Much of your social life at University will revolve around the Students’ Union, which provides services, support, activities and entertainment for students. A major plus at Bangor is that student membership of the Students’ Union’s clubs and societies is free of charge, ensuring that all students can take part in the sports and activities offered.

Entertainment and Social Life

The University has a number of food and drink outlets across the campus. It has three large screens and offers events including sports nights, pool tournaments and entertainment.

Campus Life & International Students' Events

Campus Life is a programme of free events for students living in University halls of residence. Take a break from your studies, meet new people and participate in activities you already enjoy, or perhaps try your hand at something different!

For accommodation, the university guarantees a room in their halls of residence to all first year undergraduates who hold Bangor as their Firm Choice and apply before the given deadline. Accommodation is self-catered and the majority of their halls are en-suite. All their halls are within walking distance of the main University buildings and city centre. University staff places a high priority on caring for and supporting their students. This is reflected in the fact that Bangor is rated one of the top universities in the UK for student support (Times Higher Education).
