About Birkbeck, University of London

Birkbeck, University of London is a public research university located in Bloomsbury, London, England, and a constituent college of the federal University of London. Birkbeck is a world-class research and teaching institution, a vibrant centre of academic excellence and London's only specialist provider of evening higher education – which means students can balance studying with work, family and other commitments.  Students from over 120 countries study at Birkbeck, attracted to the vibrant academic community and the opportunity to find part-time work while attending classes in the evening.

Why choose Birkbeck, University of London ?

Birkbeck offers a unique combination of evening study and a matchless central London location, right in the geographic and academic centre of the city, giving you exceptional opportunities. At Birkbeck, you can build your own university experience, with as little or as much support as you need. Birkbeck offers a famously friendly, welcoming environment and we will be with you every step of the way, offering academic support and pastoral guidance, whenever you need it.

In addition to year-round study skills programme, the university offers a range of pre-sessional English and academic skills courses. If you need to improve your English skills before you start your degree in order to meet the English language requirements.

Course Flexibility

All courses are taught on weekday evenings, with nearly 80 BA, BSc and LLB 3-year undergraduate degrees, and over 200 postgraduate taught and research programmes also mostly taught in the evenings. Most 3-year undergraduate degrees are also available as 4-year, and sometimes 6-year, part-time study options.
